Taipei Exchange Signs Cooperation Agreement with FTSE Russell to Enhance Competitiveness in Index Business

The Taipei Exchange (TPEx) is actively promoting its index business and has signed a cooperation agreement with the global index provider FTSE Russell. This collaboration aims to leverage both parties' expertise and experience in index compilation to jointly build an ecosystem of index-based products in the TPEx market, meeting the diverse needs of investors for index investing.

TPEx stated that FTSE Russell is the pioneer in compiling the index for Taiwan's first ETF. Establishing this collaboration will further enhance the competitiveness of TPEx's index business. FTSE Russell brings over 40 years of experience in index compilation, with more than USD 18 trillion in global fund assets tracking its indices. By leveraging FTSE Russell's market brand, comprehensive asset coverage, and cross- asset index development capabilities, TPEx aims to elevate its ETFs to the global stage and contribute to Taiwan's vision of becoming Asia's asset management hub.

Scott Harman, Head of Fixed Income, Currencies and Commodities at FTSE Russell, an LSEG business, comments: "We are delighted to be working with Taipei exchange, which represents one of the most sizable, fixed income ETF markets in Asia. Our collaboration is not limited to fixed income or equity but also extends to developing innovative multi-asset indices in the region. Together, we will build innovative index products to meet the needs of investors in Taiwan, further promoting the strength of our global index franchise."

TPEx highlighted that FTSE Russell has a local team of nearly 100 professionals in Taiwan, providing comprehensive and timely index services. This collaboration is expected to enrich and modernize the TPEx index product ecosystem, making it more diverse and aligned with global trends.
