TPEx's SCAN Platform Featured in WFE Focus Magazine, Highlighting Taiwan's Sustainable Finance Innovation
The Taipei Exchange (TPEx) has been recognized internationally for its leadership in sustainable finance, with its Sustainable Capital Access Network (SCAN) initiative featured in the November 2025 issue of the World Federation of Exchanges (WFE) Focus magazine.(https://focus.world-exchanges.org/articles/taipei-scan-initiative) The feature, titled "Unlocking Sustainable Finance for All: Taipei Exchange's SCAN Initiative," follows TPEx's shortlisting for the inaugural WFE Exchange Group Innovation in Market Infrastructure Award and its presentation at the 64th WFE Annual Meeting in Istanbul.
At the event, TPEx Chairman Lih-Chung Chien introduced SCAN to representatives from more than 90 countries, outlining its innovative and inclusive market framework, achievements in the sustainable bond market, and future development plans. The recognition underscores TPEx’s growing global profile in sustainable market infrastructure and policy leadership.
SCAN was established to support Taiwan's 2050 net-zero pathway by lowering market entry barriers for SMEs and public-sector entities, which often face resource constraints or budget limitations when pursuing sustainability projects. Centered on the sustainable bond market, the platform provides feasibility assessment support, enhances issuers' capacity, aligns practices with international standards, and increases market confidence. TPEx also offers subsidies for external review fees to encourage broader participation.
Since launching the sustainable bond market in 2017, TPEx has seen record annual growth. As of October 2025, 235 sustainable bonds were listed with a total issuance value of NT$719.2 billion (US$23.58 billion), about 24% of which are dual-listed on major global exchanges. TPEx will continue leveraging SCAN to strengthen sustainable financial infrastructure, support national sustainability policies, and advance Taiwan's development as a leading asset management hub in Asia.
